A walk in the woods

This past Monday was a national holiday here in Greece so it was a great chance for a three day get away.
This time it was a mountain excursion and probably one of the best ones I've had for quite sometime now. I mean it's been ages since I had the pleasure of a mountain trip and the lovely, warm and sunny weather surely had a lot to do with these most enjoyable long walks.
I went to Samarina, probably the most renowned  Vlach Village of the Perfecture of Grevena and the entire Greece.
It was the first time I went there and I have to admit I was totally amazed by the virgin rompola (species of pine) forest , the green valleys that interrupted the woods and the shallow rills whose water was practically the only nature sound effect in this absolute serenity (apart from some birds of course who were singing in the most peculiar way -at least in my citygirl ears).
Other than natural beauty, Samarina is a very well preserved village with traditional houses that capture your attention and make you wanna take lots of photos from every possible angle (and believe me I've used each and every one in search of a perfect shooting).
So, as I find myself quite incapable of describing all the images, sounds and odors of the forest and the village I prefer have (a few of the endless) photos do all the talking...
