My be♥d Anafi

Τhe first time I have been to Anafi island was centuries ago.For those of you who are not Greek or have never heard of it I will give you a first hint.
It is very close to one of the most famous islands in the world, Santorini and also one of the Cyclades islands which have taken their name from the shape they form (that of a circle-κύκλος in greek language) around the sacred island of the ancient Greeks, Delos.
Well, that's enough with the historic data, now let's go back to Anafi....
Just imagine the island of Santorini with a town (chora) situated so very high on the mountain peak but  less crowded and ''civilized'', beaches that are more friendly to the visitor than Santorini's volcanic beaches are.
Then, try to think how such a beautiful island would be without all these night clubs,fancy restaurants and luxurious hotels.
Yep, now you get the idea of how Anafi is really like.
In fact, it is an island that ''the less is more'' attitude is coming to life.
It has everything you need, especially if you are a fan of small places that provide only the necessary for your summer vacation: A few sandy beaches, a town (well, that is an overstatement for the island of Anafi,given the fact that it is inhabited by not more than 300 people during winter time), and some small, family-run restaurants that serve the most delicious homemade dishes you could taste.

I have visited the island for the second time some days ago.It was such a pleasant surprise for me to find out that even though so many years have passed and Anafi has been slightly touched by the hand of tourism and civlization it still gives you the same uncanny, almost otherwordly feeling.
 Moreover,the human factor certainly adds a lot to the equation: Friendly,warm local people would welcome you with a smile and would remind you of a more careless period in Greece, when the crisis and all were not part of our everyday life.
In fact, in this tiny corner of the Aegean sea everything is so simple and minimal that maybe you get to see what is really significant and meaningful in life or maybe you are taught a lesson: you see how people learn to live with less by taming the elements of nature and how they make the most of the small gifts that are given to them.
Although I  had the luck and  pleasure of being around quite a lot of summer destinations, especially here in Greece, one thing is pretty certain: Anafi will always have a special place in my heart.

Last but not least (a facebook page)!

Ever since I 've decided to create this blog I kept telling to myself I should have a Facebook page as well.All this time though, I thought that this wasn't an easy thing to do and I constantly postponed it because the profile I was thinking of creating was never satisfying enough for me.
I mean, having an Etsy profile for example is something that you can build consulting Etsy articles about it or checking out some shops you can relate to.

On the other hand, a Facebook page is something different.
You refer to a much broader audience, to people that have little or nothing to do with jewelry making so you have to be appealing and aproachable at the same time.

Finally, all these second thoughts came to an end and after quite a long time I 've managed to pull myself together and create a page that would be something I could at least not be ashamed of.

Anyway,enough with the rambling...

New statement brass pendant

Long time no see, right?Or in our case I should probably write long time no post...Well,it's been rather busy for me these days so I didn't have the time to be more involved in blogging and once more I absolutely missed it.
Anyway,I think it's time I posted some of the new pieces of jewelry I have designed and created which will soon be listed on my Etsy shop.
So let's start with a very favourite of mine.It is a  new pendant  that is kind of a statement jewelry.
It is made out of brass sheet (0,3mm thick) and wire which have both been handcut and hammered and pieces of fake black suede cord.
I think this pendant is influenced by ancient civilizations and has a tribal feel to it (at least this was my original intention).
Have a look and tell me what you think about it...I'm really anxious and curious to hear your impressions!

One year of blogging

''Hello and welcome to my blog": Those were the very first words I ever wrote on the white surface of  my blog post space exactly a year and a day ago and suddenly a whole new world of people, images and ideas came before me.I never thought that I would be so excited about blogging.It was a totally new concept for me and I really had no idea how many creative and remarkable people were involved in this internet community.

Moreover, I didn't have a clue that I would get to catch up with all these people and that I would find myself being so tremendously anxious to read such interesting, touching or funny blog posts.

 I also didn't have a clue that after a while I would be so curious and intrigued about my blog stats as well as the origin of my blog visits.That was also part of the joy and excitement,I must confess...

Ok maybe it's time I stopped being sentimental and I should  have some numbers do the talking:
1891 visits (wow, this is some unexpectedly impressive number!)
44 posts (all of which was definitely worth the time and effort).

Thank you all for this amazing journey.
Hope I will keep on blogging as long as I have something interesting and inspiring to write about.
